Same thing goes for lesbian, gay or bi trans women and trans men.īooks with an author who shares the protagonist’s identity are marked as “#ownvoices.” Books where the author is queer but of a different identity are marked as “#queerauthor.” If you are an author listed here who would like your book to be marked as such (or not, as the case may be) you can let me know. If a character is aro or ace spec and also lesbian, gay or bi, their book will be under both relevant sections. If a character is genderqueer and bisexual or pansexual, their book can be found under the genderqueer sublist. If you’re looking for LGBTQ romance novels within the SFF genres, I’d suggest checking out some of the small, LGBTQ publishers, such as Less Than Three Press, Blind Eye Books or Bold Strokes Books.įor the most part, the lists are sorted by gender since fantasy books in particular can be sketchy about whether the characters are gay/lesbian or bisexual (or pansexual for that matter). Or if you’ve happened to come across any other articles or lists, I would be happy to add them to the resources list.
Also be sure to check the comments if you’d like more recs. However, if you know of any other books that are good, please mention in the comments.
Therefore this list tends to reflect my personal reading preferences - more fantasy than sci-fi, more female protagonists than male.
This list is a constant work in progress that is mostly composed of books I’ve personally read or books that are on my list of books to read.
